Ever wondered what it’s like to cruise with young kids? Ever fancied booking a themed cruise but not sure whether you would enjoy it? We may be able to help!
On Sunday Claire and I will set sail from Southampton onboard Royal Caribbean International, Navigator of the Seas. We’ve been invited onboard to review the week long cruise calling into Vigo, Bilbao and Lisbon. This in itself is obviously very exciting however what we’re most excited about is the chance to experience the largest retro music cruise at sea with more than 100 performances by some of our favourite 80’s stars… Belinda Carlisle, Tony Hadley, Kim Wilde, ABC, Go West and many more!
Assisting us in our mission to check out every aspect of the ship including kids clubs and onboard entertainment will be Claire’s two daughters (3 & 5) and my youngest son (3). Wifi (and toddler tantrum!) permitting we plan to share our daily highlights here on Cruising with Kids and on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) with the aim of convincing you that cruising is a brilliant option for a family holiday.
At the very least we can promise to entertain you with photos of 80’s poolside workouts, dodgy Madonna outfits, interviews with the 80’s cruise stars and a behind the scenes tour of the ship.
We hope this sounds like a fun way to learn a little more about cruising with kids! And of course if you have any questions about cruising with Royal Caribbean or specific questions about the facilities onboard Navigator of the Seas please do free to ask in the comments section below and we will try our best to find out the answers.

We disembarked the ship yesterday after an incredible week! Below I have listed our daily postcards so you can see what we got up to when we sailed back to the 80’s onboard Navigator of the Seas with Cruiseco.

Cruiseco have no more plans at this time to repeat the Back to the 80’s cruise from the UK however if you are a musical theatre, classical music and/or opera fan take note! There are still a few cabins left on the Bravo – Cruise of Performing Arts, departing this Saturday, 19th May to 26th May from Southampton onboard Celebrity Silhouette. Onboard will be 28 performers including Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra. For more information check out – bravocruise.co.uk/2018/ (Other music cruises by Cruiseco which depart from Australia can be found here – cruising.co.uk/).
Even if you can’t get onboard yourself for Bravo fear not! Our fellow co editor, Sarah from Extraordinary Chaos is going to be onboard with her family reviewing the cruise and sharing highlights with us here on Cruising with Kids so pop back next week to see how she gets on.
