Greetings from onboard the Royal Caribbean, Navigator of the Seas!
This is the first of our daily postcards. We, Lisa from Travel Loving Family and Claire from Tin Box Traveller have been invited to review a Back to the 80’s Cruise along with three of our kids.
For the the next seven days we are sailing from Southampton to Bilbao, Vigo, Lisbon and back to Southampton.
We were so excited to embark the ship yesterday. Fifteen minutes after this photo was taken we were through security, checked in and eating in the main restaurant onboard Navigator of the Seas, Windjammer. We of course had expected the check in procedure to take much longer. As we had five huge suitcases between us and lots of rucksacks we were so pleased that they were taken from us at the taxi drop off point and we didn’t see them again until we checked into our cabin, leaving us with free hands to take care of our kids.
After the children had eaten two puddings each we checked into our cabins. Claire and her daughters are in a outside cabin with porthole and I’m in a balcony cabin with my son, which was a perfect spot for us all to enjoy the sailaway with a bottle of champers.
We couldn’t believe our luck with the fabulous weather and certainly hadn’t expected to be swimming onboard yesterday whilst docked in Southampton.
All to soon it was time for dinner and we quickly dressed up the kids and enjoyed a glass of pink Moet on the balcony. Dinner was served in the Sapphire Dining Room. Thankfully we were allocated the 6pm sitting so could give the kids a good meal before dropping them off in Adventure Ocean kids club while Claire and I were wowed by 80s pop idol Kim Wilde. It was a late first night for us all but set the scene for a fun week sailing Back to the 80s with Cruiseco and Royal Caribbean International.
Swing by tomorrow to see how we get on exploring the ship during our sea day and watching more 80’s acts.
Now take a look at Day 2 of our cruise Back to the 80s.
Cruiseco have no more plans at this time to repeat the Back to the 80’s cruise from the UK however if you are a musical theatre, classical music and/or opera fan take note! There are still a few cabins left on the Bravo – Cruise of Performing Arts, departing this Saturday, 19th May to 26th May from Southampton onboard Celebrity Silhouette. Onboard will be 28 performers including Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra. For more information check out – bravocruise.co.uk/2018/ (Other music cruises by Cruiseco which depart from Australia can be found here – cruising.co.uk/).
Even if you can’t get onboard yourself for Bravo fear not! Our fellow co editor, Sarah from Extraordinary Chaos is going to be onboard with her family reviewing the cruise and sharing highlights with us here on Cruising with Kids so pop back next week to see how she gets on.
