In February 2020 some of the nation’s best-loved characters and iconic film scenes were brought to life in Leicester Square. I love some of the unique statues in London and these Leicester Square Film Statues are in the home of London’s film. On your next trip to London from your cruise check these out!

Find the iconic British and well-loved Paddington Bear sitting on a bench eating his sandwiches. He represents the later years of films and the great adventures of the Paddington Bear movies 1 and 2. These Paddington movies premiered in Leicester Square in 2014 and 2017. He is wearing his signature hat and duffle coat but has no boots! Why not sit on the bench beside him and have your lunch?

Laurel and Hardy Statue

High above TKTS Booth teetering on the rooftop you will see the famous comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy. The scene is from the 1929 movie Liberty which is the inspiration behind the statue. Many people do not notice this pair high on the roof of the only official ticket booth in London. The Leicester Square Tickets TKTS booth is the best place in London to get cheap theatre tickets!

You will find the Wonder Woman Statue in Leicester Square high above the wall in Leicester Court. She is often hard to spot as she is not directly in the square. This art instalment represents the 2020s and the 1984 release of Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman who is a DC Super Hero bursts out of the wall, and her lasso is also lit at night.

Why not sit on a bench next to a life-size Mr Bean statue? The comic performer’s bronze statue Rowan Atkinson sits happily in the gardens waiting for selfies with film fans. Rowan’s character Mr bean was created in 1990.

Every Harry Potter fan would love this figure of Harry Potter! Where else can you see Harry Potter in London? This Harry Potter statue in Leicester Square features Harry riding a broomstick and playing Quidditch. The long series of Harry Potter films are the inspiration for this remarkable statue. There are many film spots in London too so this was the perfect place to put him!

Also gracing Leicester Square’s rooftops is Batman DC’s iconic Super Hero! Can you spot the statue high on the roof of the Ocean Cinema? He is keeping watch over London from the rooftops just like he did in the Batman Films. In the foreground, you can see the original statue of Shakespeare and Charlie Chaplin!

The Gene Kelly Statue in Leicester Square represents the 1950s as he swings on a lamppost. The scene is from the timeless dance in ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ in 1952. One of the greatest movie film musicals of all time. He can be seen with his raincoat, hat and umbrella smiling for all to see.

Bugs Bunny Statue

“What’s up doc?” Check out the Bugs Bunny Statue in Leicester Square. This timeless statue of Looney Tunes’ Bugs Bunny the cartoon character is remarkable. He made his first official appearance in 1940’s A Wild Hare. You can find him with his carrots a mailbox and now a basketball hoop in a flower bed near the Tickets booth in the Square.

Mary Poppins Statue

My favourite statue is the amazing Mary Poppins Statue in Leicester Square Gardens. Mary lands gracefully with her umbrella in the air! A favourite film from 1964 and a great example of 1960s cinema. Mary Poppins is loved by children and adults alike even today. She can be seen with her hat, coat, umbrella and her bottomless Mary Poppins Bag ready to take flight.

Indiana Jones Statue

A bronze statue of Indiana Jones, the iconic action movie hero portrayed by Harrison Ford, has been added to the collection of famous celebrities immortalized in Leicester Square. The statue, created to coincide with the release of the latest and final instalment of the Indiana Jones film series, titled “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” was placed in the square (May 31) in a crate with his fedora and whip. The official unveiling of the life-sized sculpture Harrison Ford was in June 2023, closer to the movie’s release on June 28. The Indiana Jones statue and be found near Greggs’s bakery.
