A Lancashire family known among friends for their love of cruising and travel is turning to an extraordinary fundraising effort, raffling their own home, to help fund urgent, potentially life saving treatment overseas.
Claire Nutter, 48, and her partner Gary Dunne have placed their Grade II listed property in Roughlee, valued at around £800,000, at the centre of a global prize draw as they work to raise £350,000 for specialist surgery and follow up therapy in Germany. The treatment represents Claire’s last remaining medical pathway after exhausting available options in the UK.

This Is An International Draw
The draw is being hosted on the international competition platform Raffall, with entries priced at £5 each, and the winner will have the choice of taking the Grade II listed home in Roughlee or an alternative cash prize of £500,000.
Organisers stress that a minimum of 250,000 tickets must be sold for the house to be awarded, but even if that threshold isn’t reached, the winner will still receive a substantial cash sum equal to 50% of total ticket sales. Supporters are being encouraged to click through to get their tickets, not only for a chance to win a home or significant cash prize, but also to help fund Claire’s life-saving treatment abroad and support a meaningful charitable cause.
Before her illness, Claire ran a successful beauty salon based at Business. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone three major surgeries, with doctors only able to remove part of the tumour. She also went through chemotherapy, which did not prove effective, and radiotherapy has been ruled out because of the risk of severe side effects. With NHS treatment options no longer available, the family began researching specialist alternatives abroad, eventually identifying a German clinic offering advanced treatment not accessible in the UK.

5% of Tickets Support a Foundation Inspired by a Courageous Young Woman
The family has also built a charitable element into the campaign. Five per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Be More Laura Foundation, created in memory of Laura Nuttall, whose courage and positivity after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour inspired people across the country. Her legacy continues through fundraising and awareness work for others facing similar diagnoses.
Travel has long been a central part of family life. Claire and her loved ones are keen cruisers and have previously sailed with P&O Cruises and Royal Caribbean, creating what they describe as some of their most treasured memories together. Claire’s sister Catherine says those trips represent what the family is fighting to preserve: more time together, more milestones, and more shared adventures still to come.
Claire added, “Thank you to everyone for supporting us by buying tickets and sharing information about the raffle. We are truly grateful. “
The raffle is scheduled to close at midday on July 4. Supporters and friends are already helping to spread the word and raise funds, but more is needed. For Claire and her family, the campaign is more than a competition. It is a determined effort to secure the chance of more time and more memories together.
