What Is The Ripcord By iFly? Ripcord By iFly is a sky diving simulator which allows you to experience the sky diving at sea feeling without having to jump out of a plane. And what better place to do that than at sea. It is even pretty amazing to watch especially when the instructor has a go!

The sensation of flying takes place inside a 23-foot tall glass flight chamber, thus giving guests the chance to fly while taking in stunning ocean views. The I-fly chamber overlooks the Flo-rider and is situated on the back of the ship. There is also a viewing platform for friends and family so they can look and take photos.

The Ripcord used to be included in the price of your cruise however fees do now apply and are subject to change but we have heard charges varying from $29 – $50. Although you can sometimes book a free session on a sea day. However sometimes there are free sessions on port days. There will be a lot more people in your group and you may have to wait. Paying for your session will give you more one to one and two goes at the iFLY.

It is recommended to book your free session as soon as you board the ship, as slots fill up quickly. Reservations can be made via the Royal Caribbean app or at the RipCord by iFly counter.

Can You Ride the iFly Free?

On many cruises, the iFly is free on port day, but must be booked immediately as you board as the free spaces run out quickly. To book the iFly, simply book via your Royal Caribbean app, or ask a member of staff to help you.

There were lots of free spots on our port day but we had to book the night before when they showed up on the app around 8pm.

Do You Have To Do iFly Training?

Yes, before taking flight you must register and take part in a training course. There is a small training room where will be shown an overview video. You care then taken though and taught the correct flight position and hand signals from accredited instructors.

What do you need to wear on the IFly?

What ships have the RipCord by iFLY on Royal Caribbean

You Must wear closed toe shoes and something that fits under the suit like gym gear. Before you must remove all loose articles and jewellery including rings. You will then be outfitted in the appropriate flight gear, that includes a jumpsuit, goggles and helmet. Once on the flight deck, you will be able to enjoy two, one-minute long flights with an instructor. This will consist of one practice flight followed by a free style flight.

The IFly can be a really exhilarating Experience but it is not that easy! The idea is to make your body as flat and wide as you can to float on the air. You are told to push your belly to the air and spread your hands. The instructor helps you adjust in the air and it is a very strange sensation. They do offer progressive courses onboard if you want to do more and learn more. Im sure it gets easier as you go but after two goes we were exhausted!
