Carnival’s Lost Ships: Why These Cruise Ships Vanished from the Fleet

Share

In this article, we will look at which Carnival Ships have been retired, scrapped or sold. Carnival Cruise Line, one of the world’s largest and most well-known cruise operators, has maintained an extensive fleet of ships catering to travellers’ needs for decades. However, like many other companies in the cruise industry, Carnival has had to retire, sell, or scrap some of its vessels. This is due to age, changes in demand, or fleet modernisation efforts. This process often involves retiring older ships by selling them to other cruise lines, repurposing them for non-cruise uses, or, in some cases, scrapping them entirely.

Over the years, several Carnival ships have been retired, decommissioned, or transferred to other brands within the Carnival Corporation or outside of it. This trend accelerated in 2020,2021 when significant disruptions in global travel led to the retirement of less efficient or older ships to streamline operations and reduce costs.
