Cruise holidays promise relaxation, adventure, and a chance to unwind on the open seas. However, certain behaviours can quickly turn your dream getaway into a nightmare, resulting in your removal from the ship. And after recent TIKTOK footage shows it happens, but thankfully, these occasions are in the minority.

Whether it’s excessive drunkenness, tampering with safety equipment, or inappropriate public behaviour, cruise lines enforce strict policies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all passengers. In this post, we’ll explore the top actions that could get you booted off a cruise ship.

1. Violence and Disorderly Conduct

Any physical altercation, threatening behaviour, or disruptive actions can lead to immediate disembarkation. Cruise lines prioritise the safety and comfort of all passengers. And we have seen two families marched off in Antigua over a sun-bed dispute, it does happen. Also any form of harassment, discrimination, or hate speech towards other passengers or crew members is not tolerated and can result in disembarkation.

2. Excessive Drunkenness

While moderate alcohol consumption is part of the cruise experience for many, excessive drunkenness that leads to disruptive or dangerous behaviour can result in being removed from the ship.

3. Tampering with Safety Equipment

Interfering with life jackets, lifeboats, or other safety equipment is taken very seriously. Such actions can compromise the safety of all passengers and crew.

4. Stealing

Theft of any kind, whether from other passengers, crew, or the ship’s stores, is grounds for immediate disembarkation and possible legal action.

5. Vandalism

Damaging ship property, including cabins, public areas, or equipment, is a severe offence that can lead to being kicked off the cruise. We have heard of a family removed from a cruise just last month when their kids vandalised the ship.

6. Unauthorised Access

Entering restricted areas of the ship, such as the crew quarters, engine room, or navigation bridge, without permission can lead to immediate removal.

7.Failure to Adhere to Shore Excursion Rules

Not returning to the ship on time after a shore excursion or causing trouble in port can result in being left behind and not allowed back on board.

8. Smuggling Prohibited Items

Bringing aboard items that are forbidden by the cruise line, such as weapons, flammable materials, or other dangerous goods, can lead to ejection from the cruise.

9. Inappropriate Public Behaviour

Actions that are deemed indecent or inappropriate in public areas, such as lewd conduct, can result in being asked to leave the ship.

Those Not Following Protocols Will Be In The Minority

Remember, respecting the guidelines set by the cruise line ensures that everyone can make the most of their time at sea, creating lasting memories without unexpected disruptions. It also gives you peace of mind that an enjoyable cruise is ahead as standards are high.
