The Complete Magic Kingdom Water Taxi Guide

There are several ways to get to and from Magic Kingdom including the Disney Bus Network and Monorail Network. However in this post we are going to look at the getting around Magic Kingdom area by water launch and water taxi.

Magic Kingdom Park Area Water Taxi’s Connect To The Following Hotels

Is The Disney Water Taxi Transport Free?

Yes, you can can use the water taxi’s for free, its is a wonderful way to get from Magic Kingdom to the resort hotels and restaurants. And a wonderful way of cooling down on a hot day, it feels like such a treat instead of a form of transport.

What Times Do The Water Taxis Run?

There are 4 routes to get around Magic Kingdom area by water launch. The Gold Flag, Blue Flag, Green Flag and Red Flag which all service different hotels making getting around the Magic Kingdom area seamless and all part of the Disney Magic.

Gold Flag Route

The Gold Flag Route runs from the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian resort to Magic Kingdom roughly every 10-15 minutes and it takes around 6-8 minutes to get between each stop, with the whole round trip taking just over 20 minutes. The Gold Flag Route starts to run around 30 minutes before the park opens, also including Disney Extra Magic Hours. It stops running 1.5-hours after the park closes.

Blue Flag Route

This route transports guests between Bay Lake, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, and the Contemporary Resort. The route always has 2 launches running at any given time and runs  from around 6:45 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Green Flag Route

The Green Flag boat transports guests directly between Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Magic Kingdom. They generally run from 8:30 AM until 60-90 minutes after the parks close with the route running 2 boats. The journey takes around 12-minutes, however you can expect to wait between around 10-20 minutes for your water taxi to arrive.

Red Flag Route

The Red Flag boat runs between Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom. The boats generally operate between 8:30 a.m up until 60-90 minutes after the park closes. Although please note these boats do not run for Extra Magic Hours. This route runs to Magic Kingdom with one water launch stop it is a direct route. the journey is around 8 minutes.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian Village hotel is connected to Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian Resort water transport via the Gold Flag Water Taxis. You can catch the Water Taxi from behind the Mikala Canoe Club Marina which is behind point L on the map.

For Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, catch the Red and Blue Flag Boat Transportation to Magic Kingdom, Disneys Contemporary Resort and Disneys Fort Wilderness. This will depart from the water landing just behind the Fire Rock Geyser.
