You may be wondering just how much is there to do on a Transatlantic cruise. We have just sailed onboard a Royal Caribbean ship the Anthem of the Seas from New York to Southampton and we found there was so much to do! We had 6 sea days and we were wondering how were going to fill them up, but before long the days had passed and we still hadn’t done everything on the ship!

Anthem of the Seas is a Quantum-class cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean International and the second ship of her class So she is a pretty big and has a slightly different layout to other ships. With that said, this is everything to do on a transatlantic cruise with Royal Caribbean ship the Anthem of the Seas.

Relax by the Pool or Hop in the Whirlpool

With three pools to choose from both indoor and outdoor you can grab a sun bed and relax by the Pool whatever the weather. On transatlantic crossing’s in April and May the weather can vary, but generally, you can expect mild to warm temperatures. This is because the transatlantic crossing’s are generally repositioning cruise’s, meaning they are moving the ships to better climate for the next season. So having the choice of an indoor and out door pool is perfect and the Anthem has both. You can also Hop in the Whirl pool for a bit of warmth.

Watch a Seminar or do a Quiz in the Music Hall

Check your planner for daily quizzes, seminars and activities. Most of the Quizzes are held in the Music hall, Schooner bar and the pub. If there is a large crowd for the progressive quiz they are sometimes held in the Two70. At Music Hall, each evening features a unique headliner. Dance the night away to top-tier cover bands, or relax and enjoy the performance from the bar or one of the cozy lounge tables in this multi-level venue.

Hunt for Snacks

There are so many places to eat on the Anthem of the Seas. As well as eating in the main dining room there are plenty of snacks on offer. My favourite being a fresh almond Croissant from the Cafe Promenade in the morning. Complimentary Dining Options include, Main Dining Room, Windjammer Café, Solarium Bistro, Coastal Kitchen, Two70 Café, Café Promenade, Sorrento’s and the Dog House.

Take a Trip on the North Star 300 Feet Above Sea Level

The North Star elevates you above the ship for the best view ever! Book a trip on the North Star for a 360-degree views of the world above the ship and 300 feet above sea level.

Did you know that you could get a real sky diving experience onboard a cruise ship? We tried it and it was a great experience and one you would not expect from a cruise ship experience at all. The RipCord by iFly is a skydiving simulator that allows guests to experience the sensation of free-fall in a controlled.

Help Complete a Puzzle

I love that on Royal Caribbean ship’s during a transatlantic they often have puzzles to complete. Anyone can take part, so you can stop by for a few minutes on route to your next stop and fix a few pieces.

Climb the Rock Climbing Wall

Almost all of the Royal Caribbean ship’s have a rock climbing wall. I must admit it has been a while since I had a go but it’s pretty impressive none the less. On the Anthem of the Seas you can see if you can reach as high as the Giraffe!

Search for Ducks

Now this is not actually laid on by Royal Caribbean but you will no doubt find these little critters all over the ship. Hunting for ducks is a popular activity nowadays on cruise ships especially for children I like to find them but we choose to re-hide them for others.

Ride the Bumper Cars

Another great thing on Anthem on a Royal Caribbean Transatlantic cruise are the Bumper Cars! Did you know the Anthem of the Seas has Bumper cars? In the SeaPlex it converts from a sports court to an arena for real bumper cars! Check the cruise planner for times of the activities.

Escaping from the Future Puzzle break out room on transatlantic cruise with Royal Caribbean is a really cool concept! It is set up in one of the teen rooms called Fuel. You will grouped with other people and have a set of clues and boxes to solve to break out. We loved it and it’s a free to do on your cruise.

All of Royal Caribbean’s ship are full of interesting art. The whole ship has art that labelled with the artist and the name of the artwork. Some of the art on Anthem of the Seas is also interactive even reacting to your heart beat! You can also head to the Art Gallery to bid on your own art, or snap up a free glass of fizz at an auction.

The most important thing especially when you first get onboard is to explore the ship. Find out where to get your food, drinks and snacks and where all of the activities take place on day one. This way you will always make the most of your Transatlantic cruise.

If laying by the pool is not your thing while on a transatlantic cruise with Royal caribbean, not try your hand at the Flow Rider. Im not that brave, but I am alway in awe of how good it looks right off of the back of the ship!
