These tips will help you make the most of your cruise, but most importantly, before that, unplug and relax, enjoy some downtime to appreciate the ocean views or lounge by the pool. Balance is key to fully enjoying the cruise. Read a book, take a swim, or have a cocktail by the pool.

Have Lunch in the Main Dining Room on the First Day of Your Cruise

Do go and eat lunch when you embark, don’t head to the buffet if you can help it. The buffets are very busy on embarkation day; you are on holiday so are there to relax. The main dining rooms are normally open for lunch on embarkation day and sea days. Our favourite thing to do when we board is to head to the main dining room restaurant and have a delightful three course lunch. Don’t worry about the children they are always well catered for.

Make sure that you bring along your camera, smartphone and charger, as you’re going to find photo opportunities at every turn. Even when you’re just on the ship itself, and not exploring one of the ports, there are still so many scenes that you’ll want to capture.

As well, once you’re back home, you can appreciate all your memories that bit more when you look through your gallery, and you can show all your friends what you got up to. These photos will be with you for a lifetime where as a cruise may only be a few days or weeks. Preserve these memories by getting something like sustainable wooden prints of your best pictures, that you can hang up when home as a clever tribute to the boat decking.

There’s no two ways about it: cruise ships are huge. That means, to truly make the most of a cruise trip, you need to have a little itinerary set out. Find out what your cruise has onboard, whether it’s an outdoor pool, cinema, or entertainment.

Cruise ships offer an incredible amount to do that you probably weren’t even aware of. So, find out what you can do and if you need to book in advance. Also check out other things that you need to book when you embark as they often get booked up early, even the children’s clubs get booked now quite quick. This means that you won’t be left disappointed at the end of your trip, as you will have ticked off all you wanted to do.

Often, cruise ships provide you with food inclusive of the price. You know what that’s means? It’s time to tuck in! Make sure you visit a variety of different eateries on your ship and sample all the culinary delights at your fingertips. Check out the drink packages before you go too so you do not have to worry about extra money whilst onboard.

You’re on holiday, so let loose and make the most of it! Find out what you like the best, and then you can revisit it at another point whilst you’re on the ship. There is usually a range of different cuisines for you to try, so this is a great chance for you to experience something new.

Don’t Forget Spending Money

Although a lot of what you need will be included in the cost, that doesn’t mean you won’t need a bit of spending money, just in case. There are often extras you can add on such as shopping, excursions and activities. Plus, you might want to buy souvenirs to take home with you, so be sure to factor this into your budget! You do not need cash whilst onboard though as it is cash free so remember to check your credit card in so you can use your cruise cabin card whilst on aboard for any extras.
