Wonder of the Seas was launched in 2022 as the fifth of the Oasis Ultra Class ships, behind Symphony of the Seas, launched in 2018. Oasis Class Ships hold between 6,771 and 6,988 passengers. However, Wonder of the Seas also brought an exciting new suite district.

The ship is 236,857 Gross Ton, 1,188 feet long and 210 feet wide. Gross Ton is the calculation used to measure a ship’s internal volume. Thus gross tonnage is calculated based on the volume of all of the enclosed spaces of the ship and cruises at a speed of 22 knots.

Knots, are how speed is measured at sea and equal to one nautical mile per hour. Thus, if a ship is sailing at 22 knots it is traveling as fast as a land vehicle traveling at just over 25 mph.

Wonder of the Seas is bigger than Symphony of the Seas, but there’s little in it. Although Royal Caribbean has managed to squeeze a couple of hundred more passengers, this will be due to an increased gross tonnage and clever planning and design of internal spaces.
