We’ve just returned home from a glorious week on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas after her much-anticipated 100 Million Dollar dry dock renovation. If you’re wondering what’s happening on the Boardwalk on the Allure of the Seas, you’re in for a real treat! The Boardwalk still has that fun, nostalgic feel, but now with some fantastic new features that we couldn’t wait to try out.

We were so excited to sail on Allure, as we had sailed on her sister, Oasis of the Seas, in October and loved every minute. Here’s everything you can expect and a few of our personal highlights, too. Check out our photo tour of the incredible Boardwalk Neighbourhood on one of our favourite cruise ships ever.
The Boardwalk on Allure of the Seas Offers Classic Fun with a Fresh Twist

One thing we love is that the Boardwalk has still kept its charm. You’ll find the gorgeous hand-carved carousel parading proudly in the middle, freshly restored and just as magical as ever. The kids loved it; it was fabulous seeing people of all ages enjoy such a classic. This is free and available from 10 am to 10 pm on a sea day and 6 pm to 10 pm on a port day.
The Aqua Theatre

The AquaTheater is as spectacular as ever, with incredible high-diving shows and water performances under the stars. If you haven’t seen an AquaTheater show before, make sure you book and grab a seat early; it’s a breathtaking show set to 80s music. We had a seat booked but were delayed due to dinner running over, so we arrived 5 minutes before and had to stand at the back. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was worth standing for, it’s a great show. But next time we will eat earlier.
Rock Climbing

And if you’re feeling adventurous, check out the rock climbing walls on either side of the ship overlooking the AquaTheater. Offering a climbing challenge and amazing views. But watch out for those lizards climbing along with you.
Exciting New Additions: Playmakers and Ultimate Abyss

Two of the most significant changes to the Boardwalk on Allure of the Seas are the addition of Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, and honestly, it’s become one of our favourite spots onboard. Plus, the introduction of the Ultimate Abyss makes the Boardwalk feel like a more complete space if you love a Royal Caribbean Boardwalk.
Playmakers

We absolutely loved Playmakers. It has a friendly, upbeat vibe, perfect for families, groups of friends, or just relaxing after a day in the sun. The food was a real highlight, think massive nachos, juicy burgers, loaded fries, and wings, and it’s all really good value.
Plus, with all the TVS, you can catch a game or just enjoy the lively atmosphere. The arcade right next door keeps the kids entertained too, making it a perfect Boardwalk hangout.
The Ultimate Abyss

Another new addition we couldn’t resist was the Ultimate Abyss. This 10-deck dry slide is as thrilling as it sounds! You start way up high on the ship and end up shooting out right onto the Boardwalk. It’s so much fun, even if you have to build up a bit of courage first. We did use it once or twice to get from the top deck to Playmakers.
Dining and Sweet Treats

If you’re after a quick and tasty bite, the Boardwalk Dog House is still serving up a great choice of hot dogs and sausages. It’s an easy, grab-and-go option, especially with hungry kids around.
For those with a sweet tooth, Sugar Beach and Scoops are colourful candy and ice cream shops that are great options for sweet lovers. Whether picking up a bag of treats or choosing a scoop of ice cream, it’s a tempting spot for anyone walking by.
The Boardwalk Donuts on the Allure of the Seas

Also, a favourite for early risers is Boardwalk Donuts, which is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Fresh, warm donuts are served every morning, perfect for a sweet start to the day.
Johnny Rockets

Johnny Rockets is an authentic Royal Caribbean favourite. It offers burgers with a cool American Diner vibe and amazing milkshakes for an extra fee of $15. We have visited since our boys were little; it’s a real family favourite in the Christie household.
Free Breakfast on Johnny Rockets

Although lunch and dinner have a cost, breakfast is free at Johnny Rockets, and it’s fantastic. From breakfast sandwiches to waffles and pancakes. And the breakfast sandwiches are just the best.
Family Fun and Entertainment

The Boardwalk on Allure of the Seas is packed with surprises, from pop-up entertainers like jugglers and magicians to family fun nights and parties. We loved just strolling through and seeing what was happening, there’s always something going on.
Shopping on the Boardwalk on the Allure of the Seas

There’s also a small selection of Boardwalk shops if you fancy picking up souvenirs, beachwear, or treats. Check out Pinwheels for the gorgous custom embroidered gifts and the beaded bags next door, I am still kicking myself for not buying the parrot bag.
Are The New Boardwalk Upgrades Impressive of Allure of the Seas?

The newly updated Boardwalk on Allure of the Seas completely lived up to our expectations. It’s still the fun, family-friendly space we loved on Oasis of the Seas. Adding that life to Allure, thanks to brilliant new additions like Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and the thrilling Ultimate Abyss.
If you’re sailing on Allure soon, make sure you save plenty of time to explore the Boardwalk, grab a meal at Playmakers, ride the carousel, and take on the Ultimate Abyss its so much fun.
