Barcelona cruise port terminal is one of the largest cruise ship terminals and global ports in Spain and a popular choice when cruising out of Europe. Many of the biggest cruise lines stop here in the Capital of Catalonia are on short and long itineraries around the Mediterranean sea.

Where to go in Barcelona when your ship docks at the Barcelona Cruise Port Terminal

The cruise port terminal of Barcelona has many different docks for cruise ships and is located in port Vell. Depending on the Cruise line you may dock at a different terminal such as terminal A or D. Lets look at how you can safely get off of your cruise ship and explore the best places and bustling city of Barcelona. Do you need an excursion or can you do it alone? What services to the cruise port terminals offer and where do they dock?

How to get in to the city from Barcelona Cruise port?

Can you walk in to the city centre from the cruise terminal in Barcelona? Yes you can it is only 20 or 30 minute short walk from the closest World Trade Center cruise ship terminal to get to the bottom of Las Ramblas. However some of the other terminals are a bit further and may require a short bus shuttle service or a longer walk. As well as the cruise bus there are always Barcelona taxis available in the port too if you don’t fancy the long walk. If you walk along the quay you will come out to the monument of Christopher Columbus.

The biggest cruise ships dock at Moll Adossat cruise dock and from the moll Adossat pier you can walk in to the old part of Barcelona. The walk may not be suitable for all and it will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Alternatively you can get the cruise tourist bus which will take you to the Columbus square. From here it is a 10 minute walk to the heart of Barcelona.

What are the cruise terminals at Barcelona?

Barcelona’s cruise port comprises of two main terminals located at the end of Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas. These are called the World Trade Centre Terminals and are North and South and the Moll Adossat Quay Terminals.

Moll Adossat Quay Terminals For larger ships

Moll Adossat Wharf is the main terminal for large cruise vessels. As a cruise traveler you will more than likely be here where your ship docks. The 5 terminals at Adossat have no limit when it comes to ship length. This means the mains cruise lines such as Disney, Royal Caribbean, Cunard, MSC and NCL will dock here.

You can walk ashore from the big ship terminals located at terminals A, B, C, D and E but it takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Cruise lines will offer a shuttle bus and there are also taxis close by.

Larger ships dock at the Moll Adossat Quay Terminals which are;

  • Cruise Terminals A
  • Terminal B
  • The C Terminal
  • terminal D- The terminal is operated under a private concession that ensures preference to Carnival Corporation ships.
  • E Terminal at Barcelona which is the Helix Cruise Center and is the second terminal of Carnival Corporation

Moll Adossat terminals are international passenger terminals which are fairly new and state of the art. They can handle a lot of luggage and lots of cruise ship passengers. The terminal operators offer many services and you can expect up to date passenger services such as these:

World Trade Centre Terminals and are North and South.

The North Terminal is prepared to gives service to one medium sized vessel and the South Terminal can receive two ships. This is the closest terminal to the Barcelona for walking. There is additional mooring space on the eastern side of the quay that is used by Terminal Nord or Terminal Sud. Both terminals are in close proximity to the city centre so that passengers and tourists can walk to Plaça Colom and the Columbus monument in 5 minutes.

What services are at the World trade cruise terminals in Barcelona?

When you reach the port terminals in Barcelona they have a wide range of services. All of the terminals are air conditioned with help for luggage handling. There are public telephones and toilets as well as duty free, souvenir shops and a foreign money exchange booth. When returning to the ship you will pass through X ray machines and immigration before you board the gang way to you ship.

There are 2 terminals at the World Trade Centre (WTC) pier which are called North, and South terminals.

Can I get a Taxi at the Barcelona cruise port?

There are taxi ranks next to each of the cruise terminals in Barcelona. The taxis are Black and yellow so easy to find and distinguish they are also on a metre.

A taxi from your cruise ship to the city centre will cost around €15 to €20 depending on where you want to go and which dock you arrive into.

Is there a Shuttle bus from the Barcelona port?

When your cruise ship arrives at Barcelona cruise port, depending on what terminal you arrive into, you will be able to either walk or take a 5 minute shuttle bus journey to the bottom of the Columbus monument. 

The port does lay on shuttle buses for cruise passengers. This is also known as the port bus. The port bus will take you from your cruise ship terminal at Moll Adossat and the Christopher Columbus Monument at the end of Las Ramblas.
